John Blue is the Founder and Creative Director of Boss Hair Group, a Chicago luxury hair salon known for dimensional color, effortless beauty, and an elevated but non-pretentious experience. With over 27 years in the beauty industry, John specializes in rich brunettes, lived-in blondes, and believable hair color that grows out beautifully and works with real life — not against it.
Inspired by Studio 54 glamour, 90s supermodels, fashion, nightlife, and Parisian style, John’s approach blends technical precision with instinct and individuality. Outside the salon, he’s passionate about travel, fashion, music, and creative culture, and is known for building a collaborative, welcoming environment where clients feel confident, inspired, and completely themselves.
A constant fan of reinvention, John’s a self-proclaimed “artistic superfreak” because his love of innovation and creatively making all things beautiful. From recording music, filming music videos to launching his own POPLUX candle line, John’s artistic talents extend far beyond hair. In his spare time, you can find John traveling with his partner Sergio, or relaxing in their home with their two “instafamous” dogs, Mowgli and Bruno.
